Events

The Haemophilia Society organizes several events each year for its members, often at a heavily subsidized rate. This is to encourage interaction and friendship among members.

World Federation of Haemophilia Update:

World Haemophilia Day 2011 was globally celebrated on April17. This year’s theme “Be Inspired, get involved in Treatment for All” was to celebrate supporting positive change for people with bleeding disorders and encouraging others to do the same. By working together and inspiring each other for a brighter future, we can achieve “Treatment for All”.

For World Haemophilia Day 2011, everyone in the community were encouraged to share their inspiring stories whether as someone with a bleeding disorder or as a healthcare professional committed to improving the lives of all those with bleeding disorders.

Through these stories, World Haemophilia Day provided the opportunity to highlight care globally and the discrepancies that exist. To quote Gavin Finkelstein, President of Haemophilia Foundation, Australia, “access to treatment is perhaps the biggest challenge facing many people with bleeding disorders throughout the world who still do not have adequate treatment.” All patients, societies, treatment centres and health care partners should strive to achieve improved care and better treatment for all people with bleeding disorders.
